Lucky Bay Astronomy Night

For our darkest astronomy session in the Esperance region, we head to Lucky Bay in Cape Le Grand National Park, where minimal light pollution creates exceptional conditions for stargazing.

Using premium telescopes and a guided tour of the night sky, guests observe planets, stars and distant deep space objects while discovering how different cultures have interpreted the sky for thousands of years.

Set within one of Western Australia’s most iconic coastal landscapes, Lucky Bay provides an extraordinary setting for an evening of astronomy.

What to expect

• Guided astronomy session and laser-guided sky tour
• Telescope viewing of planets, stars and deep space objects
• Ancient storytelling alongside modern astronomy
• Limited numbers per telescope
• Chairs and blankets provided for your comfort

Location

• Lucky Bay is located in Cape Le Grand National Park, approximately 65 km, or around 50 minutes' drive, from Esperance. This is a self-drive experience.
• The astronomy site is located within the Lucky Bay car park, with directional signs to guide guests on arrival. Accessible toilet facilities are located a short distance from the astronomy site.

Before you arrive

• Enclosed shoes and warm clothing are recommended.
• Fresh, filtered drinking water is provided.
• Where possible, we encourage guests to bring a reusable water bottle.
