Kalgoorlie Astronomy Night

This guided astronomy experience explores the night sky through modern astronomy and ancient storytelling.

Using premium telescopes and a laser-guided tour, guests observe planets, stars and distant deep space objects while discovering how people across time have interpreted the sky.

Set beneath the wide, open skies of the Goldfields, away from town lights.

What to expect

• Guided astronomy session under dark outback skies.
• Telescope viewing of planets, stars and deep space objects.
• Ancient storytelling alongside modern astronomy.
• Limited numbers with no more than five guests per telescope.

Location

Sessions take place at Lake Douglas Recreation Reserve, Kalgoorlie, Western Australia.

• Guests make their own way to the site. Full details and arrival details are provided after booking.
• Please allow extra time for travel and take care when driving on dark roads, watching for wildlife.
• The final section of road to the astronomy site is a short, well-maintained unsealed road, approximately five minutes from the main road.
• Our team will be onsite to welcome you on arrival.

Before you arrive

• Enclosed shoes and warm clothing are recommended, as evenings can cool quickly.
• Guests are asked not to use white lights such as mobile phone torches during the session.
• Accessible toilet facilities are available nearby.
• Chairs and blankets are provided for all guests.
